About

Mercy for Children Foundation is a grass roots 501(c)(3) nonprofit that strives to put the needs of the children we serve first.

Our mission is to enable local individuals in developing countries a means to run humanitarian operations in their own communities.

With no paid staff, we are able to give 95% of the funds directly to the programs:

  • House of Blessing Children’s Home is located outside of Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand. This projects helps children in the surrounding villages who, due to death, drug addiction, imprisonment or abandonment, no longer have parents to care for them. MFC provides their monthly supply of rice and other cooking and food items as needed. Mercy for Children has also contributed to a new building that upgraded the living conditions of these children from dire impoverishment to nicer, safer living conditions.
  • Life Changers Children’s Home is located in Pakistan. MFC has built a hostel that provides a safe place for children who need care after school and on weekends when their parents are working or not available to care for them. The children receive supervision, food and the gospel. As needed, some children live at the hostel and are provided with a Christian home. All children served by MFC receive basic needs, an education, and the gospel. MFC provides monthly food and cooking supplies for the children’s families along with school uniforms, tuition, and transportation to and from school.
  • Community Care Myanmar is an outreach in remote slum areas of the Yangon region. Due to instability and lack of opportunity in this area, MFC has established an education center that services children from preschool through adolescence. Children are offered daily lessons and a daily meal. Community Care Myanmar teaches them that all children have the ability to learn, are curious, creative, and can succeed. MFC also provides community services  for emergency medical care and food for families who are in desperate need.

Education in Thailand and Pakistan is not free and requires tuition, uniforms, and supplies. Without your help the basic survival needs of 160 children would not be met. For the price of
one meal out or two specialty coffee drinks a month, you can literally save the life of a child.

  • Founder
  • In 2014, David Thorne spent two months volunteering at Mary's Home in Doi Saket, Thailand. While there, he discovered the needs of the home. At Mary's Home, David also met Pastor Hanook from Pakistan, who was desperately seeking support for children from his homeland. Moved to action, he felt led to start the non-profit Mercy for Children, and raise funds for these causes.
